A series of Excel spreadsheets were being used to manage very complicated processes, in particular the method whereby licensees submit their monthly sales returns. This was not only a significant administrative overhead but was also vulnerable to errors. Plans for growth raised concerns over how this would scale.
Following a detailed analysis phase, it was possible to design a solution whereby the Licensees could add their sales returns via a web-based portal that utilises a Microsoft SQL database. A separate web-based application was developed for the office staff that shares the same database, and that is capable of processing the captured data and generating reports at the click of a button. These reports had previously taken days to create via spreadsheet.
This offers a far more robust solution, which is capable of providing fast and accurate reporting as well as providing a firm foundation for future growth. And since the initial phase, the system has evolved to include a quality control module, additional brand management and advanced financial reporting.
